I understand your point, and that's my understanding of how things are
*supposed* to work.  However, I think the problem is that's *not* the way it
works with the Daily News:  the amount of "factual" information allowed on
the Op-Ed page seems to depend on who the writer is or perhaps on which
group the writer is associated.

In this case, my understanding is that Dale Courtney was allowed to supply
stale "facts" in his guest editorial.  However, other guest editorial
writers and letter to the editor writers have had pieces rejected or have
had to remove current and verifiable factual information.

This, it seems to me, is one of the problems with the Daily News:  there
isn't just an appearance of a double standard, there *is* a double standard.
That's definitely NOT something I want to see in a newspaper.

Their job is to inspire, anger and cajol people into discussion. Obviously
its worked here.
If an editorial doesn't anger someone, the writer hasn't done the job.

Good suggestion Sue.  However, based on the DN's failure to use facts in
some of their past editorials, especially those written by Murf on NSA, etc,
I doubt the DN really cares that much.
