may celebrate, I always thought Joel did a great job
of balancing the statues/letter of the law with

NEWS ALERT: Plaskon resigns as Moscow community
development director

Assistant city supervisor named as interim during
national search

Moscow Community Development Director Joel Plaskon has
resigned from his position, city officials announced
Thursday.

Plaskon has worked for the city 10 years, including
the last five years as community development director.
Prior to that he worked as assistant community
development director and as assistant city planner. In
a news release Thursday evening, City Supervisor Gary
Riedner said he has appointed Bill Belknap as interim
community development director while the city conducts
a national search for a replacement.

Belknap is currently assistant city supervisor. He has
previously worked as assistant community development
director for the city and has worked as an associate
planner for Latah County.

According to the city’s news release, Mayor Nancy
Chaney received Plaskon’s letter of resignation
Thursday.

“I am thankful for Joel’s service to our community and
I wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Chaney
said in the news release.

In the letter, Plaskon reportedly expressed an
interest in pursuing alternative career opportunities,
according to the news release.

“I have enjoyed my work here, but look forward to a
fresh perspective and new professional challenges,”
Plaskon said in the release.
