Welcome Hank. Independent thinking can lead to great ideas and innovation. Although history has shown that it can spur the fear of anarchy. I would venture to say that every group has disagreements, even the GOP. Otter's vision of certain things (or at least the method of dealing with them) didn't necessarily match with other GOP leaders or legislative committees. Shirley Ringo, Tom Trail, or Gary Schroeder could probably attest to that. It sounds like you have started to develop your platform. As for your views on topics being popular or not, that all depends on the group you are presenting your views to. You mentioned several subjects (new construction, water, big box, boarding house ordinance, etc.). Do you feel comfortable sharing your views with us at this time? I am sure some will agree with them and others won't, but it creates discussion, dialogue if you will.

Thanks for your kind comments and welcome to the group. I certainly appreciate it. I do understand the nature of this list sometimes and have seen how some folks can lambaste others. But I think I'm up for it. Regardless of what's said, I'm still me and, like it or not, I'm not one to change for anyone or any group. That said...

You asked if I was a Chaney "robot". I can assure you that I'm not. I often find myself at a disagreement with the Mayor over issues and sometimes members of the city council. However, such disagreements are necessary and its not often that you find disagreements that actually sway opinions in Idaho (ie the GOP controlled state legislature). I am my own independent thinker, or at least I think I am. :-)

I certainly hope that I can provide a honest, non-hypocrital stance to issues facing the city, including the issues facing us with regards to water, expansion and new construction, as well as the ever impending issues of "big box stores" that face the area. I think that while my views on these subjects are not unique and they might not certainly be the most popular, they are what I believe.

  Henry D. Johnston
