Well I might do that; and when I do, the complete name of the entity will be, "Kill a Baby Whale for Jesus Foundation."

Of course if you really wanted to start a controversy, you could:

  1) Open a business account at Washington Mutual under the name "Kill the Baby Whales Foundation" (or whatever other sick foundation you can dream up).

  2) Wait until the pre-printed checks (with the heading "Kill the Baby Whales Foundation") arrive.

  3) Make contributions (using these checks) to Governor Otter, Rep. Sali, and all the other self-serving larvae of Idaho in the amount of five dollars each.

  4) Wait until the contribution checks are cashed, cancelled, and returned.

  5) Provide copies of these cashed, cancelled, and returned checks to the Spokesman Review exposing the "Kill the Baby Whales Foundation" as one of Governor Otter, Rep. Sali, and all the other self-serving larvae's staunchest supporters.

Of course the "Kill the Baby Whales Foundation" will be proven, by Governor Otter, Rep. Sali, and all the other self-serving larvae, to be bogus. But, by then, it will be like saying, "I would like to put an end to the rumor that . . . "

  Seeya round town, Moscow.

My name is one you will find on Shirley Ringo's list of campaign doners. I also work as a volunteer in her campaigns for the Idaho Legislature. I do so for many reasons, but I will mention three that are important to me:

  1. No member of the Idaho legislature is more aware of the needs of Idaho Public Schools, the students who attend them, and the people who work in them than is Shirley. She has stood steadfast in opposition to attempts to erode the financial base of public education through vouchers and other tax giveaways.

  2. As a retired member of the Idaho Education Association, I have appreciated Shirley's strong support for the idea that people in the workforce have a right to unionize, bargain collectively, and be guaranteed due process in workplace disputes.

  3. Shirley's dedication to the students of this state is evident through her concern over testing mandates which may harm more than help students, legislative attempts which would deprive students of equal access to a good education, and her work as an ombudsman for those Idaho citizens who are disabled, living in poverty, or need assistance in their efforts to access programs which could benefit them.

She has been my good friend for many years. She is probably the most ethical person I know. I am proud to support her.

    Visionaries:

Since Donovan's remarks challenge my political integrity, I'll respond briefly.

I have consistently supported campaign finance reform, but the majority of Idaho legislators have not embraced it.

One of my regular supporters is the Idaho Education Association, of which I am a member. Their endorsement process involves completion of a survey involving issues important to them, and an interview. Typically, I receive the maximum donation from them which is $1000 in the primary and $1000 in the general election.

A handful of teachers sometimes contribute also.

My actions and votes absolutely are not determined by donations to my campaign. Probably those who donate to me most generously are favorably impressed by my voting record. My votes are not for sale - anybody whose legislative action is determined by campaign contributions should resign.

Yes, Donovan, there are times when I disagree with the MSD. On such occasions, I work for change. (I don't sue them.)

If anybody needs information on how to find the record of donors for any Idaho candidate, let me know.
