[Vision2020] roadkill

You can contact the Idaho Dept of Transportation
regarding roadkill laying by the side of the road.
Fish and Game will take 'fresh' roadkill if it is
moose/elk but not usually deer and will take it over
to feed the bears at WSU. Not many food banks will
accept this meat anymore, tho I can't speak for local
food banks. You can contact Chuck Whitman, Director of
Northern Idaho Services for Idaho Food Bank (in
Lewiston, they serve the surrounding counties) at:
208-746-2288
or cwhitman at idahofoodbank.org

If you want to donate your own wild game to people you
know, I would check out the Fish/Game rules because
there are probably "guidelines" there on how to do
that (if one wants to play by the rules). The Latah
County Sheriff's Office is not set up to dispose of
roadkill (fresh or otherwise). If you are the one who
hits a critter with your auto, you must get approval
from Fish & Game to take the meat.

or so i've been told from my resident law enforcement
guy =)
