Speaking of organized sports and women . . .

Here is a video I put together last March during the . . .

"Intercollegiate Annual Logger Sports Conclave" which took place at UI's
Parker farms

"We're a town of about 23,000 with 10,000 college students. The college
students are not very active in local elections (thank goodness!)."

The combative sports (boxing, judo, karate, wrestling, etc.) result in far
fewer injury's than football, rock climbing, skate boarding, mountain biking
and skiing at the amateur level. Even cheer leading results in more
emergency room visits! Would you have every "sport" that is potentially
dangerous be eliminated from the extracurricular activities list?

In an aside to Ms. Mix: Just because one engages in these pastimes does not
mean that you will be out looking to "beat anyone up." Also, should the need
arise I can assure you that no amount of "verbal smackdown" will protect a
person from a determined and belligerent adversary. No matter how sharp a
persons communication skills are they are most assuredly not the equal of
"a roundhouse punch to the kidneys" as unlikely as that particular technique
might be. All boys should be given some exposure to at least a basic
understanding of self defense.

Boxing is a very dangerous activity and not the type of "sport" that should
be encouraged by schools. And parents should have more sense than to allow
their kids to be treated worse than a chicken or a dog.
