Likewise. Since I am not assured that the mall recruiting office will not
be targeted, I will be elsewhere.

I, too, will join the march if Sally's suggestion is adopted. I would still
attend the rally, but
would not march on a recruiting office (if it is even there!). Our troops
are also victims of the
Bush Adminstrations' lies and blunders. I support them by opposing this
insane war, I do not
oppose them. Many of them also oppose the war, but have a duty to the
military and their
orders....

Sally Perrine's idea makes better sense. It is high visibility at a
location with a high concentration of people and it avoids any link
between the protest and the military.

I seriously believe that during the Vietnam War it was the marches on
recruiting stations, ROTCs, and other military-oriented targets that
wrongfully evolved into troops returning home to shouts of "baby
killer" and the like.

Any and ALL links to military-oriented targets MUST be avoided. Rumor
becomes propaganda.

Thanks, Sally.

What time, again, is the march?

Here's a proposal for a compromise approach to the Jan. 27
anti-war march:

The PPC did not organize this march, but a number of us are
going to join in. Personally, I think it would be more effective to
stop at the stoplight at the entrance to the mall, and stand on each
corner with our signs. And that's what I'll do rather than go into
the mall itself. That way, we'd have visibility as protesters of the
war, without directly confronting the military personnel who are
caught up in it. Let's reserve our anger for the architects of the
wars of choice and aggression, and our compassion for its victims -
whether they be our military personnel or the civilians caught in the
crossfire.

I'd hate to see us lose anti-war allies bacause we alienate
people with the way we conduct our protests. A majority
of Americans already oppose this war.

I have left a phone message with Mike of Seeds of Peace re this,
to see if we can reshape the proposed protest march.
