A letter concerning Representative Bill Sali who remains inaccessible to the

No sense from Sali

Since Sali is demonstrating his sense of humor by introducing his "obesity
reduction" bill in Congress ("Bill Sali quick to take lead," Jan. 11), I am
adding my sense of humor:

According to Sali, the minimum wage defies "natural law." Without going into
the pros and cons of the minimum wage, I challenge Sali to live with the
minimum wage (or even twice the minimum wage) for six months, and I
guarantee that his own obesity would disappear.

Does "his" market really determine the obscene compensation packages of
corporate executives or the compensation packages of congressmen? No,
Congress votes for their own compensation. I propose that the market, in
this case the voters, should determine and vote on the salaries and benefits
of congressmen like Sali.

Think about it: to process his humorous "obesity" bill wastes time
(considering congressmen only work two days a week when in session) and
costs money, not his money but the taxpayers' - especially future taxpayers,
since this just increases the national debt.

The same article mentioned that Sali and Simpson are co-sponsors of H.R. 26,
which commends the Boise State University football team on its win against
Oklahoma. What marvelous effort of legislation! And they get paid for this
"work"!

"Forty percent of the mass of every tree in the forest is crude oil. Stop
and think about that. We call them fossil fuels because they used to be
live stuff . . . now in the ground is turned into crude oil."

- Bill Sali (September 21, 2006)
