Dear All,

Since the response was generally so positive to go ahead and post these, the
first batch are now wending your way. I will post them as they come in from
now on, and it will hopefully not be soooo overwhelming.

So happy for your interest, and do go to Bookpeople for pictures. When Dave
gets his new camera figured out, there should be more current ones to put up
or post. The ones we have are mainly from Meghan Beard’s and Katrina
Nelson’s trips in the last three years, but they definitely give a marvelous
idea, along with the descriptions in Dave’s letters.

Louise

Incidentally, the following is what MSCA is all about:

2003: MSCA sent $1000 to help finish two classrooms in the school of Villa
El Carmen (pictured) and $200 to buy a plastic water collection tank.

2004: MSCA sent 247 new soccer shirts donated by the Moscow United Soccer
Association – a rave hit there! We sent $1000 to help pay for a wall to
encircle the school, Osreyda Madrano, in El Zapote, the village of Don
Arturo Bojorge Jarquin (the mayor who visited Moscow) and to help buy a
computer for the school of another community, Los Cedros.

2005: We have sent $1200 to the Quixote Center; our contribution will be
added to money from the Center’s grant and will build a home for a family in
need in one of the outlying communities of the municipality. Could you join
our effort to send additional money to help buy computer software for the
school in the main village, software which will help with computer
instruction for students, presentations, and demonstrations. Additionally,
we want to raise enough money to help build a home for a second family
($1200) in conjunction with the Quixote Center.

Update: MSCA did build the second home, sent 47 boxes of clean, used school
supplies from Moscow’s schools to Nicaragua via Quest for Peace for schools
there. We have helped repair classrooms and bathrooms in schools.

With Dave’s visit, and an expansion of acquaintances beyond the schools, it
may be that there are other things of great importance that Moscow might
help with.

Stay tuned.
