[Vision2020] Downtown & Gritman Parking

Dan,

I think the proof is in the pudding. If Gritman doesn't have enough parking, it is because, obviously, it hasn't bought enough of it. Medical Professionals that make lots of money off off their clients than lease space from Gritman given to Gritman by the public should be buying more parking spaces, not the public.

Just because Gritman says that it has x number of parking spaces it is entitled to, doesn't mean it is entitled to them.

And I don't just have a bug about Gritman forcing me to go broke buying their for profit worthless health insurance to attend UI. I also blame them for taking Latah Health Services for profit, and providing horrible medical services.

Gritman's parking problem was created by Gritman administration, and nobody else.

I have zero sympathy for businesses and services that locate downtown and then complain about parking. The Public doesn't provide public parking for Tri-State, Wal-Mart, or Hastings. Why should businesses downtown be provided with this tax support service? If a business or service cannot fit downtown, they need to either buy more space, or move to a location with more parking. It is that simple. Tristate, Safeway, the Co-Op, and many other businesses didn't complain about their neighbors taking their parking, they moved to another location and purchased more parking. Welcome to the free market.

  Best,

  Donovan

The idea that Gritman "doesn't pay and create their own parking" is
ludicrous, after BJ told us that Gritman owns the Wren House lot, plus
the fact that the main lot used to have old houses on it. This just
proves that Gritman has bought up all kinds of property on and around
their "campus" -- The aforementioned Wren House and the old Bruneel Tire
building, for example -- to create parking. Also, if the City's rules
work the same as the Highway District's, Gritman would have had to pay
for the property created when that 1 block section of 8th street was
abandoned, unless other arrangements were made.

Just because you got a bug up your ass about Gritman over some goofy
student health insurance grudge doesn't mean you are spewing "facts".
