The monthly Community Conversation series that began in June, 2006, with the discussion of the living wage and included topics such as downtown development, diversity in Moscow, growth decisions, town and gown relations, housing, "Bring Back the City with a Smile" and what's great about Moscow CONTINUES!!!

The second Monday of August from noon to 1 PM you are invited to join other citizens to address the topic: Urban renewal Agency Proposal South of Sixth Street: What Would You Like to See There? As usual, it will be at the University Inn/Best Western, in the Centennial Room of The Pantry, on a no host basis.

The Urban Renewal Agency is considering a second area south of Sixth Street between US 95 and the University of Idaho, where the grain elevators and much of Moscow's agricultural industry began and flourished. As industrial conditions have modernized and economics have changed, this area has become a prime candidate for redevelopment, especially to enhance the relationship between Downtown and the Central Business District and the University of Idaho.

On the public's agenda is the future of development of this area. What creative, innovative and forward looking commercial and residential development could enhance this area and bring the kind of economic prosperity and design excitement that will make it a superior plus for student and faculty at the University? Can this become the kind of public/private partnership that will create unique and enticing public spaces for all of Moscow?

Bring your ideas, observations and opinions to test-drive next Monday. Linda Pall, Moscow City Council member, will convene the conversation and look to you for your contributions.
