Dear Visionaries:

Okay, I'm better. My optimism is back, at least at the local level. THIS COMING WEEK IS HUGELY IMPORTANT!!!! The Rewrite of Moscow's Comprehensive Plan is getting off the ground with Moscow Dialogues, beginning Wednesday evening, small group sessions (as I understand it, it's y'all come and then we're divided into groups of 8-12) in each of 9 sub-areas of the City. The meetings are scheduled at public facilities in each of the sub-areas. I resist calling them "neighborhoods" because there's a lot of back and forth about what exactly a 'neighborhood' is. The important point here is that in facilitated small group Dialogues your ideas and opinions about Moscow and where you live (!) and what you would like to see in the future will be solicited for this planning effort.

If the information below raises questions without answers, give the Community Development Department a call, starting with the very personable and helpful Merrilie Larsen, our administrative assistant, 883-7035. Feel free to call me if you have further question(s) I might be able to help you with: 882-7255.

Please join us! The Rewrite will only be a success if YOUR voice is heard!

All the best,

Linda

Subject: Upcoming Comprehensive Plan Activities...

Good afternoon, as many of you are likely aware, we are beginning the process of updating the City's Comprehensive Plan. Over the next several weeks we will be conducting a series of neighborhood and community-wide meetings to increase community awareness of this project and gather early public input. In addition we are forming a 24 member steering committee that represents a broad cross section of the community to guide the project, along with seven different working groups of 6-8 members who will look at specific topic areas that are included within the Plan. As well, we will be conducting a community survey along with other public engagement activities. We have begun the development of a project website where project information, surveys, and other information will be posted for public review and comment at www.visionmoscow.org or via the City's website at www.ci.moscow.id.us

Please forward this email along to your organization's membership to spread the word about this important project and I look forward to seeing you all as the community comes together to shape the future vision of Moscow over the coming year.

Best regards,

Bill
