Andreas,

I consider a Partial Birth Abortion as it is defined in Federal Law (18 U.S. Code 1531).

"An abortion in which the person performing the abortion, deliberately and intentionally vaginally delivers a living fetus until, in the case of a head-first presentation, the entire fetal head is outside the body of the mother, or, in the case of breech presentation, any part of the fetal trunk past the navel is outside the body of the mother, for the purpose of performing an overt act that the person knows will kill the partially delivered living fetus; and performs the overt act, other than completion of delivery, that kills the partially delivered living fetus."

Every adjective can be a pejorative to someone if they want to believe it is. Partial Birth Abortion is a term used in place of Intact Dilation and Evacuation. Yes, it was first coined in 1995 by a conservative. But the term Dilation and Evacuation was first coined by people that performed the procedure. I think equal blame for biased language can be placed on both sides of the issue.

Partial Birth Abortion does not describe "virtually all abortions" as you claim. Partial Birth Abortions only account for less then 1/5 of 1% of abortions.

Donovan --

Could you please describe to me what you believe "partial-birth
abortion" is? "Partial-birth abortion" is not the name of any
procedure that has ever been performed in the United States; rather,
it's a pejorative term used by conservatives to describe virtually
*all* abortions.
