[Vision2020] gambinos

Gambinos was and still is one of my all time favorite places to consume great food and quantities of alcoholic beverages. One of the best restaurants I have ever been too. Ellen did a wonderful job with what she had. Even though most thought the building was run down, it had a sort of charm to it that you don't find many places. Excellent place to drink beer, talk politics, watch basketball, and enoy yourself. Who can forget the ladder?" 'Politics is the art of controlling your environment.' That is one of the key things I learned in these years, and I learned it the hard way. Anybody who thinks that 'it doesn't matter who's President' has never been Drafted and sent off to fight and die in a vicious, stupid War on the other side of the World -- or been beaten and gassed by Police for trespassing on public property -- or been hounded by the IRS for purely political reasons -- or locked up in the Cook County Jail with a broken nose and no phone access and twelve perverts wanting to stomp your ass in the shower. That is when it matters who is President or Governor or Police Chief. That is when you will wish you had voted." - Hunter S. Thompson

Yes, Gambino's was an old building. . . some even said it was haunted : ) !! Oldtimers liked to come in for a cold beer and remember getting their hair cut back when it was a barber shop. They'd even point out the corner where the old pot-bellied stove stood. It had several "remodels" over the years. . . . the original building was just the little front part you walked into. The kitchen area was added on. . . I heard it was a steam room for the barber shop. Then the back room was added on when it was a sandwich shop and finally, the patio area was built in the mid 80's. The roof was added in 1991 making that space a year around dining area. WWP and Avista loved us. . . the bills were literally through the roof!!

That's really not funny, Gary. The building was old, yes -- but the food was great and I never once experienced any problems. Please remember that the owners ran a highly successful business for 20-odd years and is remembered fondly by a lot of Moscow residents. Be nice.keely
