MOSCOW -- Moscow Police say an arrest has been made in the weekend murder of 
University of Idaho student David Boss.

Assistant Police Chief David Duke tells NewsChannel 7 that 21-year-old John 
Joseph Delling was arrested late this afternoon by police in Sparks, Nevada. 
Delling is being charged with first-degree murder. He is a former Timberline 
High classmate of Boss and the two men were acquaintances at the University 
of Idaho.

The suspect's last known address was out of Antelope, California.

David Boss, 21, of Boise, was found shot to death inside his Moscow 
apartment Saturday morning.

Duke says Delling was identified as a person of interest early in the 
investigation. Police were able to track down Delling through his cell phone 
records.

Information from cell phone records indicate Delling made a call to the 
victim at 12:12 a.m., minutes before his death.

Moscow Police detectives working with Sprint were able to locate Delling in 
Sparks, Nevada where he was taken into police custody.

Detectives with the Moscow Police Department and Idaho State Police are 
enroute to Nevada tonight to interview the suspect.

The victim, David Boss, was shot in the head twice and left to die.

Police say there was no sign of a struggle, and nothing taken from his 
apartment that would indicate a burglary.

Boss was a 2003 graduate of Timberline High School in Boise.

Detectives say his shooter targeted Boss. He was last seen alive at 8:30 
p.m. Friday, and killed four hours later.

"His life was taken way to early, he had a lot of promise just a senseless 
tragedy and we hope they find whoever is responsible,” said Dan Hollar, 
Boise School District spokesman.

Boss is remembered as a bright student with a promising future.

The Timberline graduate was known for his exceptional grades, and as a great 
lacrosse player.

Boss was a history major at the University of Idaho, and was scheduled to 
graduate in May.
