Here's a link to my friend Bruce 'Buck' Nelson's trip across Alaska last
summer.

If you actually look this page up, I suggest you scroll to the bottom, as
the earliest entries are at the bottom of the page.

With the help of a friend, Buck dropped food caches along the way, then
started near the Canadian border, on foot. He hiked over 600 miles and
canoed another 400 miles along the Noatak River, out to Kotzebue.

His friend Melanie updated the web page for him; they kept in touch with a
satellite phone, and he'd leave his coordinates and messages on her
answering machine, or they'd sometimes talk.

Given how difficult it is to walk a hundred yards on tussocks, to walk over
ten miles a day, every day, is amazing. Then there's having to cross
streams and rivers...

Enjoy! His pictures from the trip are also on the page.

Sunil
