What would an entire Week Without Violence look like? How would we as humans know? We
have never seen such a thing!

Join the YWCA of WSU in exploring how violence affects all of us.

The Clothesline Project will run from October 16 to 20 from 10 am to 3 pm on the WSU Glenn
Terrell Mall. The Project is now nearly 600 t-shirts with the words of those at WSU who have
been affected by violence. Violence based on gender, gender identification, sexual identity,
race, religion, or political affiliation. Violence against children, domestic violence, and hazing.
Violence of all kinds. If you want to add your voice to this protest against violence in our
communities, t-shirts and paint are available all week in Wilson Hall room 1A.

If you want to help us give voice to the need for safety at WSU, join the Take Back The Night
March on Tuesday---7 pm in front of Todd Hall. While the Coalition for Women Students can't
address all issues of violence, we can help women be free of fear when out at night---only one
night....

The entire WWV calendar is available at www.women.wsu under the student organization
heading...

Interesting experience while promoting the WWV at WSU. A male staff member about my own
age (50ish) got very angry and confrontive because the Week Without Violence and the
Clothesline Project focused on violence against women. He wanted to know why we aren't
upset at violence against white males. He was even more angry when we explained we can
only tackle so much, and as women are, by-and-large, the highest percentage of rape and
violence victims at WSU, this is our focus....When I told my husband about the encounter, his
response was "This guy must be OK with hitting his wife and kids, or he would be supporting
any effort to keep them safe!" Hmmmm....
