Nick: You do not KNOW that George Washington did not write this text or told
someone else to write it just the way it is but it is for sure that you do
not want to believe he would say these things. IF he did say them and meant
it to go through history under his name then the USA is indeed based on
Christian principles and you cannot handle that truth! So with your own
brand of revisionist history you make sure that there is lots of doubt about
who wrote it and glean your information from the journals of those who agree
with you. So it is once again a truth wherein one must seek the middle
ground and remember that for many years this has been accredited to G
Washington.

Greetings:

The posting of a Thanksgiving Day proclamation under the name of George
Washington may have to do with a revisionist "historian" favored by Christ
Church. There is no reason to believe that Washington wrote that
text. For example, when an aid wrote a speech to an Indian tribe, one can
clearly see the word "God" crossed out and "Great Spirit Above" inserted in
Washington's own handwriting.

Washington made sure that he visited every possible place of worship
wherever he traveled, including synagogues. If there had been mosques, I'm
sure he would have paid his respects there, too.

Contrary to the assertions of the Kirk's "historian," Washington never took
Communion in his own church and refused to answer a direct question about
whether he was a Christian when he left office. His adopted daughter, who
testified that he always went home from church before the Eucharist was
served, said that "he was not one of those who act or pray 'that they may
be seen of men.' He communed with his God in secret."

When Washington died, no clergy called and no prayers were said. He was
one of the greatest and most tolerant religious liberals among our early
Americans. For more see www.class.uidaho.edu/ngier/foundfathers.htm.

I've just finished making six dishes for a very special Indian vegetarian
Thanksgiving dinner. Now I can get to the response to Kirker Iverson's
morality and the blurb on Wilson's second slavery book.

Have a great day everyone,

Nick Gier
