Though it was only 18 years ago for the Tandy Radio Shack 80386 product, it
was in September, 1986, that Compaq Computer Corporation introduced to the
market the Compaq Deskpro 386. This 16 MHz unit was the first Intel
80386-based machine on the market, beating IBM's PS/2 model by seven
months.

In August, 2006, PCWorld magazine listed the Compaq Deskpro 386 as the
second greatest personal computer of all time, listed after only the 1977
Apple II.
