RE: Stabbing and Aggravated Assault in Troy
A stabbing last night in Troy left a 31 year-old Troy man with superficial
wounds to his neck. Mark A. Cobb (32 of Troy) was arrested for one count of
Aggravated Battery, one count of Aggravated Assault, and one count of
carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence of alcohol, after
allegedly stabbing 31 year-old Calvin Allen and holding at knife point Jamie
Y. Toby, a 25 year-old Troy woman. Cobb remains at the Latah County Jail
pending an appearance before a judge this morning.
On 11/15/2006 at 19:32, deputies were dispatched to a possible stabbing
victim at 105 N. Main in Troy. Deputies were told that the suspect was a
man named Mark. Troy Ambulance had already arrived and were treating victim
Calvin Allen. A witness told deputies that Allen entered his apartment at
105 N. Main and told him Cobb had stabbed him and had tried to kill him.
Another witness alerted deputies that he'd just seen a man with a knife
getting into a white car near the Troy Market.
Deputies stopped the white car and identified Mark Cobb who appeared to have
been drinking. A knife was found in Cobb's possession and he was arrested.
Jamie Toby told deputies she was at Cobb's residence at 403 N. Main with
Cobb's wife while Cobb and Allen were out at a bar celebrating Allen's
birthday. Cobb entered the residence without Allen and held Toby at knife
point and attempted to stab her. Toby said she was able to fight Cobb off
and Toby left. Cobb had told Toby that Allen was "done."
Cobb remains in the Latah County Jail charged with one count Aggravated
Battery for the stabbing of Calvin Allen (a felony carrying up to 15 years),
one count of Aggravated Assault for threatening to stab Jamie Toby (a felony
carrying up to 5 years and/or $5,000), and carrying a concealed weapon while
under the influence of alcohol (a misdemeanor carrying up to 1 year and/or
$1,000). At the time of this release, Cobb remains in jail waiting to see a
judge to have bond set on the felony charges.
Cobb's booking photo is available to media agencies upon request.
