RE: Homicide Fugitive Arrested

Latah County Sheriff's deputies arrested Alberto Sanchez Lomeli (33) on a
fugitive warrant out of California for homicide on 11/12/2006 at 00:55.
Deputies had been called to the Slurp n' Burp Tavern at about 23:18 on
11/11/2006 after Pullman Police Department told them they had been contacted
by a citizen who saw Lomeli at the tavern. The citizen recognized Lomeli
from a stabbing incident that had occurred in Pullman last week. Lomeli
remains in the Latah County Jail awaiting extradition to California on the
homicide charges.

Deputies arrived at the Slurp n' Burp Tavern at about 23:29, and spoke to a
witness who said Lomeli had left the tavern in a gold Pontiac van with
California license plates. Deputy Greg Pannell located the van at Syringa
trailer park and spoke to a man who identified himself as Arturo S. Arias.
Deputies ran Arias' identification and found that it returned as an alias
for Alberto S. Lomeli, a 33 year-old illegal immigrant wanted in San
Joaquin, California for homicide. Deputy Pannell and Corporal Darren
Johnson detained Lomeli and took him to the Latah County jail. At the jail,
pictures of Lomeli sent by Lodi (California) Police Department and the
Pullman Police Department confirmed Lomeli's identification as did Moscow
Police Department Sergeant Pete Comstock through fingerprint examination.
According to Cpl. Johnson, "Moscow Police Department was instrumental in
verifying the suspect."

Lomeli was arrested and booked on the fugitive warrant out of California and
awaits extradition at the Latah County jail.

A booking photo of Lomeli is available to media agencies upon request.
