Greetings:
If CIA extraordinary redentions and hundreds of illegal flights in and out of Europe had not been authorized, Condi could have simply denied the reports. But she didn't. She apologized for kidnapping a German citizen.
It is morally significant that even 100 years ago waterboarding was considered a war crime and a U. S. soldier was prosecuted for it. The point of the example is that the Bush administration's support for this type of torture is moral regression rather than moral advance. Tom has posted the VP in his own words. They have waterboarded and Cheney says that he supports it. It was a war crime a centry ago, but our great men of "character" now laugh it off as an alternative interrogation technique.
Yes, Senators Warner, Lindsay, and McCain supported the war, but no Congressman or Congresswoman voted to violate the Geneva Conventions or break the law regarding wiretapping U. S. citizens.
