Subject: [Vision2020] correcting the record

> In a letter to the Editor by Phyllis Solomon that was printed in the DN and the Argonaut and posted on vision2020 by Tom Hansen, she says I misquoted or twisted what Shirley said. She and Shirley say that what Shirley said at a poverty forum at UI was " Sometimes when your numbers are small you have to use legislative procedures rather than brute strength accomplish your goal" She may vary well have said this, I don't know. The quote I used was made at the UI commons 4/25/o6. It is "When you're in a minority group, like the Democrats, you don't have a lot of power to get things done"

> In response to a letter to the Editor by Don Meyer in which he criticized Shirley for not supporting the pledge, Shirley last night maintain that she respected the pledge and had always stood for it That she has always stood for it may be technically correct. The event in question was the dedication of the new Troy High School. Governor Kirk Kempthorne gave a speech about how Idaho was part of the suit defending the Pledge of Allegiance that was before the Supreme Court. The whole crowd stood up and gave gave him a standing ovation except for Shirley, who remained seated. I don't think this shows respect for the pledge.
> She has voted against the Pledge three times.
> HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 5 ,2000
i It amends Rule 4 of the House of Representatives to add the Pledge of Allegiance by the sergeant of arms as the third order of business.

HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 6
Amends Rule 4 of the House of Representatives to add the Pledge of Allegiance at the second order of business.

HOUSE BILL NO. 655
Amends existing law to provide that the United States flag shall be displayed in every public school classroom: to provide that every school shall offer the Pledge of Allegiance or the national anthem at the beginning of each school day: and to provide than no pupil who objects shall be compelled tp participate in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance or singing the national anthem.

ON THE DAMS- At the AARP forum Shirley said that she had never voted on anything concerning the Dams. Last night she said that she did try to get a bill on the floor asking for a study of the effect of the dams on fish. She did due this. It never reached the floor, so there for she did not vote on it, there were two bills she did vote on and against, regardless of her denial

HOUSE JOINT MEMORIAL NO 23 EITHER 2003 0R 2004 It is listed in both years
Stating finding of the legislature and opposing efforts to release large amounts of storage water for flow augmentation, contrary to the law of the state of Idaho, and also opposing removal or breaching of the four lower Snake River dams.

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO 17 1999
Stating findings of the Legislature that the federal and state enhancement efforts for anadromous fish be undertaken in a manner which protects Idaho's sovereignty over its water resources, protect dams on the entire Snake River and prohibits contributions of the warer from Idaho's reservoirs for flow augmentation, except those authorized by the state of Idaho.

Shirley said yesterday on vision 2020 that she had never vote to confiscate guns. That she support your right to hunt.

She voted against a bill originating in the Senate SENT BILL NO. 1401 2006
Amends existing law relating to emergency power to provide that no restrictions shall be imposed on lawful uses of firearms or ammunition during a disater emergency.
Being able to defend yourself against marauders during a disaster is even more important tha being able to hunt.

The other bills that I referenced to in my ad. can easily be looked up.
