Staff report

A car accident on Airport Road that may have been alcohol-related left one
passenger in critical condition and closed Airport Road for several hours
this morning.
The accident occurred around 1 a.m. this morning. The small, four-door car
was traveling from Moscow to Pullman on Airport Road when it hit the gravel
on the right side of the road, Pullman Police Cmdr. Chris Tennant said. The
driver overcompensated and went off the left side of the road. The car
rolled several times.
A 20-year-old Moscow man was driving the car, according to Washington State
Patrol Sgt. Brad Hudson.
Two female passengers and a male passenger also were in the car, Tennant
said.
The two female passengers were ejected from the car. One of the women was
flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition, Tennant
said.
"It sounds like she's going to make it," Hudson said.
The driver and the other two passengers suffered various injuries, none of
which were considered life-threatening.
The driver was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in
Lewiston.
The 21-year-old male passenger was transported to Pullman Regional Hospital,
where he was scheduled to undergo surgery on his leg later this afternoon,
Hudson said.
Hudson said the other female passenger was missing some teeth and was
transported to Pullman Regional Hospital.
Hudson said investigators believe alcohol and excessive speed were factors
in the crash, and the driver will likely be charged with vehicular assault.
The accident occurred east of Interstate Aviation. Airport Road reopened at
about 10:45 a.m.
Washington State Patrol detectives arrived on scene around 6 a.m., Tennant
said. Pullman Police turned the investigation over to WSP at that time.
Names of the driver and passengers were not yet available.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways, chocolate in one hand, a drink in the other, body thoroughly used
up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO. What a ride!'"

Subject: [Vision2020] crash on Airport Road
Pardon me for asking a question that has nothing to do with Iraq, Doug
Wilson, or the election - but does anyone have any details about the
accident this morning on Airport Road that left the road closed? I heard the
air ambulance leave Gritman at 5:30 this morning, but haven't heard anything
about what happened.
