Despite my earlier request, Dick took public dialogue and tried to
remove it to the private sphere.  I reproduce it below:

I did not intend to "sum up" Nick's words.  The whole point was that his
words had nothing to do with the original debate of whether, or not, he was
serious about supporting our troops while making posts condeming them before
they were even tried for the accusations against them.

As usual, Gier went off on some lengthy tirade about a topic totally
disconnected from the point being debated.  He is a pompous ass who tries to
change the topic when he is out of explainations for his actions.

Just because I took a week off does not mean I have changed my philosophy of
life or my understanding of what it means to really support our troops.  It
certainly does not entail posting the venemous crap Gier pedals as fact,
even if it did come from the New York Times.  He posted it to make a
statement supporting his politics and be damned the effect on those with
family in Iraq or those fighting there.

He is a total ass.  He is arrogant.  He is exactly the problem I see
happening in this country today.  Tony was not so far off in his assessment.
People like Gier make me retch!

I don't give a damn whether Gier supports our troops or not.  What I am sick
of is those who contiunally tear our military apart and seek to disgrace our
soldiers to further their own political philosophies.  Gier does it
constantly.  I repeat:  He is an ass!

He is also a phony, a fraud and an outright liar as far as I am concerned.
He believes the debate is automatically won by the side that presents the
most intelluctual argument, regardless of whether that argument had anything
to do with the original question or not.  He evades the answer to any direct
question and hides behind his academic shield of precieved knowledge.

He definately is an ass!
