Mr. Harkins -

The "platform" of any political organization should (and must) be determined
LONG BEFORE that political organization goes public on a website.

So far, all that the Greater Moscow Alliance website suggests is something
along the lines of:

Truth, Justice, and Mom's Apple Pie

Join Us

Yes, Mr. Harkins. I feel confident in saying that a vast majority of us
believe in the "feel good" issues listed on the GMA website (i.e. community
vitality, rights of private property owners, awareness of community issues,
keeping the public informed concerning city ordinances, voter participation
in elections, encourage people to seek public office, healthy
growth/economic development, and balanced/fair treatment of issues).

Concerning the Moscow Civic Association (MCA) - They openly admit that they
are a political organization. They endorse candidates and the public is
very familiar with MCA's positions on a number of key issues.

If/When I decide to join a political organization, I want to know more about
them than the fact that they won't kill my dog. But then, that's just my
opinion

Thoughts, Moscow?

uncovers new Moscow pro-growth group

Mr. Hansen,

My post referred to your declaration of a "good post" by Mr. London. I
believe the Subject line was misleading. I don't think that the Tribune
"uncovered" anything. I think they reported on the formation of the group -
and their source was a press release. A similar post was in the Daily News
on the same day.

As to the rest of your post, it seemed a bit acrid in tone, but perhaps I
read too much into it. I suspect that given that the group is rather new,
it will take a few days for it to gather input from its members and form
specific positions on issues. My hunch is that the group will be
forthcoming with discussion and position. Patience will, no doubt, be
rewarded with lots of information about the group and its position on
issues.

It is my understanding that the group is organized as a 501 C.4 not for
profit - similar to the status of MCA.
