Tom,

Couldn't a "list of names" also comprimise the MCA? Yes both groups have
agendas, which ever side you choose is up to you. I myself would like to see
a group that promotes growth smartly but also thrives for conservation. It
would be naive to believe that Moscow is not going to grow, and why
shouldn't it? We will see many of businesses being established on the
Moscow/Pullman corridor, with all of the tax base going to Whitman county.
Pullman is making a hard effort to attract good businesses while our council
is taking the steps to keep them out. We will grow at a rate of 1-5% and is
yet to be determined, but we need to address issues about growth now.

This I believe is what Bill Lambert was trying to get across. Whether we
grow at 1% or double in size 15 years from now is a moot point. We need to
address concerns now. Water, traffic, and the overall feel of Moscow should
be a focal point. We should look into the use of the Palouse river,
resevoirs, and grey water first before we start screaming bloody murder that
we have no water. No one knows how much we have. But that is why we must
start looking into alternative sources, and waste no time. Until then lets
conserve as much as we can.

Let's start at home with conservation. Use low gallonage shower heads.
Toilets can be highly efficient now days. Xeriscaping yards with automatic
sprinklers can conserve. For those of you who have a sprinkler system, turn
down each zone one to two minutes, you won't see any difference, but can
save hundreds of gallons each week per house. Raise the mower an inch,
letting the moisture retain near the roots. Try fertalizing 3-4 times a
year, establishing better root growth. All of these can methods can help
preserve our valuable water.

The american people are notorius for using using using until a disaster is
imminent, only then do we combine our resources and solve the problem. The
water issue is not an disaster, but should be addressed. This is what the
GMA was established for, in my opinion. They thrive for solving problems but
not overreacting to hysteria. The GMA was not founded on just three issues,
but rather the feel or agendas of some. They believe in business growth and
rights whether its a church or a mini mart. They believe in atrracting motor
business such as in the Thompson area. They believe in helping Moscow grow
properly. Personally I'm glad that we have a group that will counterbalance
the MCA.

Anyways enjoy the weekend

Matt
