My recommendations:

"A Bright Shining Lie" by Neil Sheehan
A nonfiction-based book about lies perpetrated by commanders in Vietnam in
attempt to convince the American public that US troops were in the final
stages of victory.

"A Patriot's Handbook" by Caroline Kennedy
Songs, poems, stories, and speeches celebrating America.

"Heart of a Soldier" by James B. Stewart
This is a biography of Rick Rescorla.

"When Rick Rescorla got home from Vietnam he tried to put combat and death
behind him, but he could never bury it entirely. This is Rick Rescorla's
story, a story of bravery under fire, of loyalty to one's comrades, and the
wonder of finding happiness late in life."

Rick Rescorla died on September 11, 2001 in the World Trade Center while
evacuating workers.

I would tell you about my other readings, but I found out that the letters
imply weren't real, so I terminated my subscription.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways, chocolate in one hand, a drink in the other, body thoroughly used
up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO. What a ride!'"
