The Moscow Civic Association will sponsor a public forum at the 1912 Building on Wednesday, May 10, at 7pm with the candidates for election to the Board of Trustees of the Moscow School District.
There are two candidates in Zone 2, Jenny Watts and Mark Hubbard, plus two candidates in Zone 5, Margaret Dibble (incumbent) and Larry Woodbury. The four candidates have been invited to the forum to meet the public and respond to questions.
The Moscow Civic Association is sponsoring this forum so the voters can make a more informed choice about an important election, explained MCA President Bruce Livingston. "The trustees will make many choices affecting the curriculum and education of our children. The trustees also face decisions involving whether, and if
so, how, to provide upgraded physical facilities utilizing 21st century advances to the best advantage of all our children and the community at large," he added.
The election will be held on Tuesday, May 16, with voting from 8am to 8pm at the Moscow School District office at F and Cleveland Streets, in the downstairs room best accessed from F Street.
Only voters residing in Zones 2 or 5 may vote, and those voters may only vote for one of the candidates seeking to represent their zones. Zone 2 is primarily east of downtown Moscow. Zone 5 is on the southwestern and northern side of the district. Information about voting, zone residence, and absentee ballots is available from the school district office at 208-892-1139.
The Moscow Civic Association is a non-profit citizen's organization that strives to improve the quality of life for Moscow residents. The mission of the Moscow Civic Association is to inform community members about important local issues and encourage civic participation.
