Crabtree,

The point is not that God will take care of everything and we don't need to do anything. The point is don't bring God into the argument. My views about NSA and the CUP, for instance, are my views. I'm not saying that NSA should not be downtown because God doesn't want them to be downtown. I use my own arguments and reasons and I'm willing to live with the consequences of whether or not they work.

If the only reason that one can muster up for passing a law is based on their personal interpretation of their own religious text, that is not good enough. Why should one who does not hold that text as sacred believe it? Why does one who adopts a different interpretation of the text believe it? That is all that matters.

The law should be based on clear harms to clear persons, principles on which we all agree or principles that are supportable by general arguments without reference to a set of personal beliefs.

Mr. Campbell, Why does your argument fly for abortion, but not for rape,
murder, burglary and writing bad checks? By this same logic there would be
no need for you to stand in the way of a new and improved Wal-Mart, the
Omnipotent Being would handle it as He saw fit. NSA and their CUP? " do you
think he can't take care of it on his own?" Why involve yourself in any
matter? "Does He need your help?"

Curious,
G. Crabtree
