"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways, chocolate in one hand, a drink in the other, body thoroughly used
up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO. What a ride!'"

Vandal basketball memories of the season of 1962-63. Coached by Joe
Cipriano, with a starting five of Chuck White, Gus Johnson (who went on to
NBA fame after 1 season at Idaho), Rich Porter, Tom Whitfield and Lyle
Parks. The Vandals went 20-6, and Gus Johnson was featured in a 3 page
article in Sports Illustrated. If you wanted a seat, you needed to show up
at Memorial Gym about 3 hours ahead of tipoff. Oregon coach Steve Bilko, on
his team's visit to Moscow: "The night before the game, my players did
everything there was to do in Moscow. Twice."
