[Vision2020] words for Phil

It was cold out at the park so the family kept it brief inviting
remembrances at a reception at the Eagles. Phil probably wouldn't
have wanted it any other way as all felt the warmth of each other's
company in the falling snow.
If the weather had permitted, I would have spoken to the
appropriateness of the memorial site next to the exposed granite
outcrop of the westernmost extension of the Idaho Batholith which
framed Phil's life for all the time
I've knew him. From Challis on the southeastern edge of the granite
to Moscow on the northwest and all the wild lands, mines, wolves and
people in between. I was glad to know Phil as a friend, as a
political adversary and as a political ally over 20 years of Idaho
environmental/natural resource use debate. I'm glad he made Moscow
his home for the last years as he was the embodiment of the motto of
the Great State of North Idaho:
"De Libertas Quirkas" (freely translated as the Freedom to be Peculiar)
From one to another.
