Have they mistreated prisoners of war? Have they participated in
genocide? Are they guilty of rape, torture, enforced prostitution,
enslavement, or other crimes against humanity? No? Then they aren't
war criminals. Yes? Then they deserve what they get, which should be
decided by an international court of law. Klaus Barbie was a war
criminal. Adolf Eichmann. Hermann Goring. Heinrich Himmler. Josef
Goebbels. Slobodan Miloðeviã. Pol Pot. Joseph Stalin. Tomoyuki
Yamashita. Saddam Hussein. These young American men are almost
certainly guilty of nothing more serious than misplaced trust in their
Commander-in-Chief.
