In June of 1986 while assigned to Company D, 1st battalion, 15th Infantry
(Mechanized), the company was at Grafenwoehr Training Area for Bradley
Qualification. On June 6th while out on night recon, my Bradley broke a
track. Four hours later after replacing two track shoes, we were "green"
again.
As I was standing behind the track, I told the driver to lower the ramp so I
could pack down the OVM gear. A couple seconds after the ramp started
lowering, I heard a snap from the ramp's hydraulic system. I guess my
adrenalin kicked in, because the next thing I knew I was laying face down in
mud and began to feel an extremely cold draft over the back of my right leg.
The driver got out of the vehicle, looked at my leg, puked, and had the
gunner radio for medics.
The next morning I was at the Wuerzburg Univesitat Hospital.
Thanks for asking, Dan.
Now . . . How about them Mariners, Carl?

(another possible repeat)
Tom says:
"Normally the question is along the lines: 'How did you get injured?'
'How did it happen?'"
Since my curiosity is now piqued beyond belief (as I'm sure it's the
same with other members of the Vizzz), and in a totally non-accusatory
way and without any name-calling, I will ask the question:
Hey Tom, how did you get injured? Looks like it hurt. That many
surgeries would suck.
