Deacon,

Do you know why left-handed pitchers are often referred to as southpaws?

Thanks,

Larson

Me:

Larson,

Most ballparks in the majors have been designed such that the batter is
facing east. This is so that the afternoon/evening sun is not shining in his
eyes. Because of this, when left-handed pitchers come set on the mound, they
are facing south.

Take care,

Deacon
