Is there a verb missing in this quotation? As written, it makes no
sense. Also, just how old is Tom Wolfe? I heard him on the Diane Rehm
Show not long ago. He said he interviewed many young college women for
his novel, "I Am Charlotte Simmons," but does that mean the book is an
accurate representation of contemporary secular college life? It's a
novel. It's fiction. It's interpretive. Rather like Dale's blog.

I work with young college women. I'm sure there must be some Charlotte
Simmons types out there, but none have yet crossed my path. I think
it's a bit cheesy and disingenuous of Dale to compare the University of
Idaho to Sodom or WSU to Gomorrah. In fact, if Dale wants to play
comparative moral rectitude, I'll take our "secular" students over his
hundreds and thousands (read 140) products of New St. Andrews any time.
Someone let me know when the students of the U of I or Washington
State are caught operating an illegal gambling casino; amusing
themselves with scurrilous and phony "Topless and Proud" fliers;
defacing the Welcome to Moscow sign; or doing hard time in the Latah
County Jail and the North Idaho Correctional Institute for truly
unspeakable crimes.

Looking for the wood in Dale Courtney's glass house but only finding a
bottle of Windex and a big pile of rocks,
Joan
