Wild, unexpected, and frequent thunderstorms are what I miss most about
summers in North Carolina. Come to think of it, the storms may be all
I miss -- no, I also miss the smell of bright leaf tobacco curing
golden brown in the barns, and I miss honeysuckle growing wild along
the back roads. There's nothing more fun than sitting out on the
screen porch in a thunderstorm, enjoying the heavy drops of rain, the
thunderclaps, and the flashes of lightning. You know that you can tell
if the storm is getting closer or moving away by counting the seconds
between the thunder and the lightning. If the time is short, the storm
is moving closer.

Wonderful!
