That's a good one to start with. What are the reasons it is a good idea? pedestrian traffic trying to cross? Vehicles trying to cross? Both? Is there a bicycle lane on Styner? Should there be if there isn't? Are there any reasons that a light there would be a bad idea? Doesn't it slope down the south side of that intersection? Would that be any kind of reason that it wouldn't work?

What about other intersections in Moscow that could use stop signs? Any ideas? I have a couple on my short list but I'll admit I don't regularly hit every street in Moscow.

My short list includes making Blaine & Third as well as Blaine and 1st four-way stops (currently they are two-way not stopping traffic on Blaine. I think this would help with traffic/safety issues at Lena Elementary. I think Hayes and Third could probably be made into a four-way stop as well. I have heard it suggested that 6th and Mt. View could be a viable place for a four-way stop as well as Mt. View and White. Any thoughts or ideas on these? What about a three-way stop at D and Eisenhower by McDonald elementary? Another suggestion I have heard on v2020 in the past was a three-way stop at Hayes and 6th. I am sure there are others that you people can come up with and I would like to hear them. -Tom

Although, I am familiar with the council’s discussion concerning the intersection of D Street and Mountain View (after having watched the session on television), I feel that my input would not add credence to either side of the argument. My many ventures in the past few years have placed me in its vicinity maybe two or three times.

However, I would be interested in “listening in” to the discussion as it evolves here on V2020.

How about it, Moscow? Let’s pass the soap box to some people with knowledge concerning this issue.

Thanks again, Mr. Ivie, for clearing the air.

I think J hit the nail square on the head with this one. There ARE more pressing things going on in Moscow. The Council and Mayor do a heck of a lot more than just recite pledges and most of it we never hear about. The D and Mt. View issue is an excellent case in point. That insightful discussion by City Council at the previous Council meeting has led to that intersection being added to the agenda for the Public Works Finance Committee. Something proactive and possitive will likely come from it, which is more than I can say about this pledge discussion. -Tom
