NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPOKANE WA
730 AM PST WED JAN 11 2006

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPOKANE HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING FOR THE PALOUSE RIVER IN LATAH COUNTY IN NORTH IDAHO
AND WHITMAN COUNTY IN EASTERN WASHINGTON

* UNTIL 8 PM WEDNESDAY EVENING

HEAVY RAINFALL AND MOUNTAIN SNOWMELT HAS RESULTED IN A LARGE RISE ON
THE PALOUSE RIVER OVERNIGHT.  AT 6 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING THE PALOUSE
RIVER AT POTLATCH IDAHO WAS AT 14.0 FEET. FLOOD STAGE IS 15.0 FEET.
THE RIVER IS EXPECTED TO CREST NEAR 16.0 FEET LATER THIS MORNING.
MINOR FLOODING CAN BE EXPECTED DURING THE CREST. AT 16.0 FEET, WATER
IS UP TO THE BACK DOOR AT THE CITY SHOP IN PALOUSE WASHINGTON.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY.
