[Vision2020] love and marriage

That is one important issue.  To it you can add consideration for 
inheritance both to partner and childernm which falls outside of the typical 
economic considerations.  You add in Paternal leaves, which are often unpaid 
absences and a lack of the ability for a gay couple to have them recognized 
if they are not the specific biological parent.

The law in this area is a complete mess.  We are only making it messier in 
the attempt to protect what is not really a state function.

Take another example, pologamy.  Why exactly does it matter if a woman wants 
to marry more than one guy?  Why if a group of people wish to marry, group 
marriage that is with several people involved, is it a matter for 
government?  The whole thing strikes me a purely a matter of civil law, of 
torts, yet we make such an arrangement criminal.

Why is it that we refuse to allow people the freedom to design their own 
contracts for marriage and instead insert the power of the authoritarian 
state?  What legitimate purpose does society have for dictating the 
structure of marriage?
