[Vision2020] New hunting protocols

I think that it is great that the accidental (?) shooting of a hunting
partner by the vice president has changed the rules of hunting. No longer is
it the sole responsibility of the shooter not to shoot someone; for now on
we had all better duck (or get the first shot off) when hunting in groups.
It should liven up the field quite a bit this fall. Figuring out what shot
and choke for this new paradigm in hunting will be a challenge. I usually
like an over-under with an open on the first and full on the second. I have
never felt mean enough to shoot tiny little quail so I like #6 for chukar
and pheasant. I think with the new rules however I will use a pump with the
plug removed so I can have more shots and up the shot size to #4 for the
first two and 00 to fill it up. I think I will go with a full choke. I swing
best to the right so I want to position myself on the left flank for the
best advantage.

At least Cheney should have warned the rest of the party that this was an
every-man-for-himself outing. Fairness is not a mark of the man however.

I am also surprised that, from 30 yards, #8 steel shot would penetrate
through a man's hunting clothing and go into the body cavity. I have never
actually used #8 shot for anything but they are tiny little shot without the
necessary mass to carry 30 yards and still have that much energy. I really
expect that the delay in getting the message out has something to do with
getting the story straight.

Anyone else out there care to share your planned equipment for this new
sport? I suppose that we will all want to hold our secrets to give ourselves
the advantage. The adrenalin is pumping just thinking about it.
