Hi Wayne,

The shooting was reported by the Daily News:

"Man finds bullet hole in Moscow residence

Staff report
Saturday, November 18, 2006 - Page Updated at 12:00:00 AM

The window of a residence in the 1000 block of East D St. in Moscow was shot
out Thursday evening.

According to the Moscow Police Department, the resident came out of the
garage area at about 10:40 p.m. and noticed the front window blinds in the
living room appeared to be damaged. He found a hole through both panels of
glass in the window, and then located a bullet projectile lodged in a closet
door adjacent to the window.

Officers located five, .22 caliber shell casings in the street in front of
the residence and five additional bullet holes were found in the siding
along the south side of the house. None of the five bullets penetrated the
outer walls of the house, according to the Moscow Police Department.

No one heard any of the gunshots or observed anything unusual before finding
the damage. No reports of shots were reported in the area between 8 a.m. and
10:40 p.m.

Anyone with more information can call Detective Mike Arp at (208) 883-7062."

I was absolutely shocked and disappointed to read about this on top of the
Halloween Muggings and the robbing with weapons of the UI grad student on
campus and . . . While these types of crimes might not raise any eyebrows
in Seattle or LA or New York or Houston . . . or Spokane, this is still my
beloved Moscow, and it upsets me to see such violence in our community :-(

Matt, I'm grateful you and your friends weren't hurt, and I'm very sorry
this happened to you and your friends and to your friend's house :-(((

And, to new Visionarie Mike Deleve -- welcome, and I'm sorry to hear that
your property has been vandalized with graffiti :-( I've seen some tagging
on the fence of the city yard (at least, I think that's what it is) at the
bottom of Public, and it disappoints me each time I drive by, so I can
imagine how awful it feels to have your own property vandalized.

I hope the City gets that tagging on city property removed -- a long time
ago, I recall reading about the importance getting stuff like that cleaned
up *quickly* to minimize the chances that graffiti and tagging will become
established in communities.

Why didn't the Daily News report this? This is a very serious event not to
mention an alleged meth house next door. If such things continue, innocent
people may be killed.
