I told myself I wasn't going to get involved in these petty arguments...

But this shot from Penny (whoever that might be) really gets under my skin.

Keely - great response.  We still need to have that coffee.

Since I was raised in a single-wide trailer on Flannigan Creek, that
probably makes me Latah County Trailer Trash.   Considering all the good
folks I know who live in trailers, I'm proud to bear the label.

I've had my fill of bigots in my life, and most of them consider themselves
religious.  Actually, most of them call themselves Christians.
Unfortunately, If Jesus were to return today, he wouldn't recognize them as
his children.

"Class Up Moscow"  -- what in heaven's name is THAT supposed to mean?
Businesses that only allow "select" people to patronize them?  Businesses
that tell kids riding their bikes through Friendship Square that they "don't
belong there."  Really classy, let me tell you.

And yes, that happened.  To my daughter's friend, and to my son.  If anyone
wants details off list, let me know.

GRRR.

OK, Penn, you deserve a double shot of my ire.

"Trailer trash"?  Is that the way you see your community -- your neighbors
are either "bigots" with nice stores, or "Latah County trailer trash"?
Really?  Is there something about living in a modular or mobile home that
makes people unworthy of your esteem?  And are you so needy of fab downtown
shopping experiences that you would excuse what you call bigotry?  Are
people so easily categorized?  Dismissed?  Embraced?

Might I be correct in guessing that you don't get invited out much?

Somehow, in the course of two posts, you've managed to show yourself not to
be one of Moscow's finest citizens, and I can say that no matter where you
live.

You know, I understand why people have problems with Kirkers and NSA
folks... I myself have dealt with a young elitist married couple that could
not have been more insincere and fake to me and my family dispite our
efforts to be neighborly.

   That said - I really *do* admire how the Kirker/NSA element is helping to
class up Moscow. I do not patronize their businesses, but it is nice to have
clean, sharp stores and restaurants on Main Street. Not everyone in this
town - even young adults - want to shop at the stupid mall or college
student holes like the Pita Pit or Papa Johns.

   I'll take elitist snobs over Latah County trailer trash any day of the
week, even if they are bigots. At least their stores are nice. They have
