The name of a restaurant linked to six salmonellosis
cases in Latah County has been released.

In response to a public records request from the
Lewiston Tribune, the North Central District Health
Department issued a release Tuesday saying the
restaurant is Ireland's Inn Cafe in Potlatch.

The establishment was inspected by an environmental
health person after the cases were reported, and no
violations were found.

Seven total cases of salmonella were reported in Latah
County, according to a release sent out last week by
the health department.

The bacteria is often transmitted by eating food from
infected animals or from food contamination during the
preparation process. Most people infected develop
diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps after 12 to 72
hours. Prevention and transmission of the bacteria can
be done through hand washing and proper food
preparation and handling."
