[Vision2020] Minimum wage

Yo, Joe -

The Chevster might just be on to something.

Why do we even bother having wages?

All it tends to do is feed the greedy anyway, right? I mean . . . the more
people make, the more they want.

All the Federal Reserve System accomplished was to see just how powerful we
here in the Nifty Fifty can make an honest man. I mean . . . can you even
begin to fathom how screwy the system would be right now if Alan Greenspan
wasn't so marginally honest? Get real! The man sneezes and the interest
rate goes up three percentage points. That's the kind of power I want.

Take all the greenbacks and burn 'em. All that gold buried a jillion feet
underground at Fort Knox ain't doin' nobody a lick of good. I say throw it
all out into the streets and tell them other countries we been holdin' it
for that they done got 30 days to pick it up.

I say we convert the entire economic system into an honor system.

For instance: I go to work next week and put in my regular 40 hours. In
return, my boss stops by my place every weekend and does my laundry, cleans
up the dog dung (seeins' how I can't take it to the regular place no more),
and stops by A&W to get me and my missus a dozen or so burgers for the week
(after he mops the floors at A&W).

That can be a cyclic thing. My boss does those things for me. His boss
does those things for him. His boss's boss does the same for his boss. On
and on and on and . . .

We can eventually turn this great big country of ours into one big humongous
commune. Everybody doin' everybody else's laundry and pickin' up munchies
for each other. And the dog dung. Don't forget the dog dung. For some
reason, it is really important in these parts.

Whatcha now, Joe?

Can we do it?

Drop me a line over at Wheatland Express tomorrow. I done got me a new job
sniffin' farts out of bus seats. It don't pay well, but transportation is
free.

Chevy,

I just want to make sure that I have the structure of your argument correct.
As far as I can tell, it is this:

1) Here is a crazy idea: Suppose we raise the minimum wage to $100 per hour.
2) That won't work.
3) Therefore, it is crazy to raise the minumum wage.

Is that your argument?

As of yet this fallacy has no name. On the other hand, it doesn't need one!

Best, Joe
