Isn't this the same guy who has put Administration policy ahead of 
science re approval of the day after pill?

FDA commissioner to present lecture

  Lester Crawford, commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration 
and world-recognized veterinarian, will deliver the James A. McClure 
Lecture on Science and Public Policy at 7 p.m. Sept. 29 in the 
University of Idaho's Administration Auditorium. The free lecture is 
open to the public.

  The U.S. policy maker will speak about "The Interaction of Science 
and Policy to Enhance Food Safety and Security." His lecture will 
touch upon such issues as agricultural commodities and food chain 
vulnerabilities as they relate to policy making.

  As leader of the FDA, Crawford ensures the safety and protection of 
the public's health. He has helped shepherd mandatory nutrition 
labeling, the formation of the World Trade Organization and control 
of chemical and microbiological contaminants of food. He has advised 
the World Health Organization of the United Nations for much of his 
career.

  He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine.
