Zeeg hile, Sehstörung,

I have anticipated this day for 6 months and now that it is here I'm overjoyed. It's good to know that the Moscow School District has not let me down. The seas are calm and the sails are set to take the over taxed citizens of Moscow on another trip towards a levy. I only hope we can mutiny before we leave the docks.

Last year the cry from the bloated crows nest was "for the kids, for the kids" The last bond was to provide $20 million for the new high school, $4.6 million to remodel West Park Elementary School, $4 million to remodel Russell Elementary School and $400k for upgrades at the current high school to address needs of the alternative high school. That seemed to be more money than the 'see of Moscow' wanted to spend "for the kids, for the kids".

Now only 6 months later, as was predicted, lo and behold we need to re-float a bond, albeit for 1/2 of the original estimate. Keely Mix had this to say about what went on at the board meeting: "We talked about and voted to support efforts for a less-than-$15-million bond to focus PRIMARILY on the needs of THE POPULATIONS OF RUSSELL AND WEST PARK, not just the buildings.... but the focus is the POPULATIONS THEREIN, not only fixing buildings.

First off, what happened to the 8.6 million that was proposed last spring for these two facilities? Secondly, what does "the populations of Russell and West Park" mean? If it's not about the 'dire situation at these ancient school buildings' then why do they need the money? Thirdly, now that MSD doesn't have a new High School in the works where will the classes of Russell and West Park move when they remodel these two decrepit schools? Is that why MSD wants the difference of 6.5 million, to build another 'temporary Grade School'?

Maybe the School Board needs to listen to the voting community when they soundly turned down the last bond issue: "Cut back on the expenditures of the blotted salaries and administration and live with in your means and then maybe we will chip in for repairs and faculties."

Maybe we need to find a new Captain and Crew to "float this bloat"!
