Thank you very much for including the actual email in question; such
colorful interpretation is always best checked with the documents under
question.  I think this would be a good practice for Vision2020 to excel at
more and more.

email to the Christ Church/Trinity Reformed Church email list, strongly
discouraging church members from voting for Nancy Chaney, Aaron Ament, Kit

talked with Kit at length, and I have never heard her say anything – good,
bad, or indifferent – about NSA, the Kirk, or any religious group.  I recall
a letter to the editor from Aaron this summer stating that he only wants
code to be enforced and has no animus toward NSA, and I have to assume he is
speaking truthfully.  Evan has maintained elsewhere that he did respond to
the infamous Wilsonian questionnaire when appropriate, given the ethical
imperatives of his position on the Board of Adjustment.

The writer continued his screed by declaring that the Moscow Civic
Association “was formed in the summer of 2002 specifically in reaction to
New Saint Andrews College and Christ Church,” which, I’m guessing, would be
news to MCA, and he closed it by encouraging members not to “waste” their
votes.  He also encourages NSA students to register to vote.  (They should,
but not because a Big Guy tells them to).

It is difficult to imagine why a religious organization that claims no
political agenda would resort to duplicitous scare tactics in order to
manipulate its membership, although it is, perhaps, easy to see why Christ
Church would.  Nonetheless, there is a moral and Biblical imperative to not
bear false witness, and many of the statements below are just that.  I
believe it is important for voters to know this.

Kirkers & Trinity Reformed members:

As you may well know, Tuesday (8 Nov) is Election Day.

For Moscow voters, this election will be critical to the future of New Saint
Andrews, Atlas School, Christ Church, and Trinity Reformed.

The Daily News says that zoning is the critical topic in the 8 November
election.  I agree with that assessment.

With that in mind, a group of six Christ Church/Trinity Reformed members
(without any direction from the elders, it is important to note), created a
questionnaire that was sent to each of the candidates.

Note: three refused to answer our questionnaire even after repeated
follow-up requests: Kit Craine, John Dodson, and Evan Holmes.

There are two candidates that are outspoken and adamant about getting NSA
out of Moscow: Aaron Ament and Kit Crane.

Aaron Ament commented that NSA students are “androids,” New Saint Andrews
College is the “android college,” and Doug Wilson is the fat “android in
command.”

Write-in candidate for mayor, Randy Blanton, refers to Douglas Wilson as
“Mr. Clan.”

There are also two candidates who have been promoted by the Moscow Civic
Association.  MCA is the “progressive” watchdog group in Moscow that grooms
and runs candidates for office.  MCA was formed in the summer of 2002
specifically in reaction to New Saint Andrews College and Christ Church.

The two candidates that MCA is pushing are Nancy Chaney (for mayor) and Bob
Stout (for 4-year seat on the City Council).  See:

Far be it from me to tell you for whom you should vote.  However, for all
the reasons listed above, I discourage the following candidates:

For Mayor:

•     Herman Adona

•     Randy Blanton (write-in candidate)

•     Nancy Chaney

For 2-Year Seat:

•     Aaron Ament

For 4-Year Seat:

•     Kit Craine

•     John Dodson

•     Evan Holmes

•     Bob Stout

In addition, the persons who win are those with the most totaled votes at
the end of the day. There are nine candidates vying for three positions on
the City Council.  Therefore, I would encourage you to be judicial with your
votes for those 4-Year positions.  You may vote for up to three; but you do
not have to vote for three.  If you only find one or two you deem to be
worthy, you may not want to waste a vote on someone you do not want to see
in office.

As a reminder: voting is in the Moscow Fairground Building, and you can
register at the polls if you are not yet registered to vote.  To vote you
need to be a US citizen, 18 years or older, and have lived in Moscow for the
at least 30 days (college students count!).  To register you need proof of
residence (a bank statement with a recent address on it, for example) and a
photo ID (driver’s license, for example).

The election on Tuesday is very important to the future of New Saint Andrews
College, Atlas School, and our congregations.  I cannot encourage you more
highly to vote on Tuesday.
