The Revolutionary War was fought because all the white
free property owners were being taxed to death by King
George. By claiming independence, and gaining the
right to vote, they could control the tax rate on
their property. So, yes, it was about the right to
vote so they could keep their property.
WWII was fought to stop Japan, Germany, and the Axis
power. If either or both had succeeded in controlling
the world's economy and military power, we would have
lost our right to vote. So yes, it was too about
maintaining the right to vote and own property.
Then of course there was the Civil War. Many Black
Americans fought in that war to earn the right to vote
individually, and collectively.
WWI, Vietnam, Korea, the Spanish American War, the
Mexican American War, and many other wars fought were
not about the right to vote. However, there are many
soldiers and even civilians that have given their
lives to maintain our way of life, including in that
way of life, is the right to vote.
