The Friday Letter
A Newsletter for University of Idaho Alumni and Friends
November 4, 2005
Dear Friends,
The University of Idaho has reported its most recent figures on the
student-athlete graduation success rate to the NCAA. The report covers
students who entered the University during the 1998-99 academic year. Our
graduation rate for this group was 68 percent - our highest rate ever and a
rate that exceeds that of the student body at large. What this means is that
more than two-thirds of all entering student-athletes from that year who
received financial aid went on to earn a degree by the 2003-04 academic
year. Even more impressive is the fact that 90 percent of those student-
athletes who completed their four-year athletic eligibility earned degrees.
This accomplishment is further confirmation of the high quality of students
who come to our campus. It also reflects the efforts of our student-athletes
to pursue a quality education to prepare them for their futures, of our
faculty to work with students' demanding schedules, and of coaches and the
Athletic Department for their contributions to successful student-athlete
graduation rates. We all can be proud of this success.
For those of you who contribute to our student-athlete scholarship programs;
your investments have resulted in wonderful outcomes. Thank you.
Tim White
President
